Bill Oddie is Britain's best known birder. He has devoted much of the last twenty years to promoting public awareness in both birdwatching and conservation in general. He has written several books including the classic Little Black Bird Book, and Bill Oddie's Birds of Britain & Ireland. A recent venture was the eight-part BBC television series screened in spring 1997, 'Birding with Bill Oddie'. This was followed by a second series, with a third in production. He lives in Hampstead, London.

David Tipling is a professional bird photographer who runs his own photographic agency, Windrush Photos in Sevenoaks Kent. He writes regularly for Birdwatching, one of Britain's leading magazines for birdwatchers. He is the author of Top Birding Spots in Britain and Ireland and Photographic Editor on Seabirds of the World.
