A popular listing and record-keeping program for birders. This new version will allow you to list the world's birds in a number of orders not just Sibley and Monroe. ABA, AOU, British Birds and Western Palearctic lists are included. Select "European" or "American" names. Change any bird's name to the common name you prefer. Bird Checklists are included for all countries, states and provinces.

Taxonomic updates will be available annually. The cost will be approximately £9.00 per year. Requires access to e-mail or the Internet to register.

This new version will allow you to list the world's birds in a number of orders not just Sibley and Monroe. Conversion programs for Avisys, BirdRecorder 32 and "home-made" bird listing programs will soon be available.

14,128 alternate common names and 6,728 alternate scientific names are included. This includes any names used in a field guide during the past 30 years.

You can make your own splits and lumps.

You can update checklists and regional taxonomic lists.

If you want us to make the splits and lumps for you, these taxonomic changes will be available annually. The cost will be approximately £9.00 per year. However, the first 5 years are free for existing owners of Birder's Diary v2.5 that upgrade to version 3.0 prior to October 1st 2003. The annual fee also includes updates to state/province and country checklists as well as the ABA and AOU taxonomic list updates.

You may enter bird sightings using our built-in voice recognition software -- just say the bird's name. Bird sightings can be entered very quickly using this entry method.

Included are three sightings entry methods, including checklist entry for multi-day trips.

Approximately 525 sub-species are included in Birder's Diary (World version) that may soon be split into separate full species by various ornithological societies.

Enter sub-species or "fuzzy" species (i.e. Gull sp.) in any taxonomic list or checklist.

You may enter your own locations and sub-locations. You can create more than one "Parent Location" for a sub-location.

Locations shipped with Birder's Diary include all countries, states and U.S. counties.

You can easily create your own taxonomic lists for any Kingdom, Phyla, Class, Family or Genus. You can then share your taxonomic lists with others at www.ThayerBirding.com.

ABA, AOU, British Birds and Western Palearctic lists are included. These taxonomic lists will be updated annually. World bird lists are updated by Worldlist. Birder's Diary includes the 44th AOU supplement released in July 2003.
