Camargue and the Crau

Camargue and the Crau

Jean C Roché

The south of France presents the ultimate contrast of wet and dry. The pink flamingos, white horses and black bulls of the Camargue marshlands live only 30 miles from the pebbly desert of the Crau.

This CD allows the listener to experience three natural atmospheres of the Camargue and one of the Crau, recorded in May (during days without the famous mistral winds).

  1. Dawn at La Capelière, with its extensive reedbed.
  2. At dusk, at the same site, a concert of Stripeless Tree Frogs.
  3. Dawn in the expanse of a stone desert, the Crau.
  4. Dawn on the Digue à la Mer, with vast flats covered in glasswort.
