Jungles of Sulawesi
Atmosphere recording that doubles as a sound guide. 22 indexed bird species. The strangely shaped island of Sulawesi lies to the east of Borneo and its rich jungles are barely explored. In one poignant sequence, we hear a familiar cockerel crowing in the dusk, only this is no farmyard bird - this is the Red Jungle Fowl, the wild ancestor of our own chickens, in its natural homeland. And instead of cows and sheep, it is accompanied by barbets, drongos and mesmerising tropical insects. 65 min.
